First off, it was the old aluminum Swanson style, and then the food was melting as we drew it. It went from bad to hideous in no time at all. Fortunately that's one drawing from college that I didn't keep. I'm guessing it was simply too nauseating.Tattered and Losthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00208918251232477186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3586104591124883214.post-1223148687614099602011-02-24T15:19:55.380-08:002011-02-24T15:19:55.380-08:00Interesting that you say that because food illustr...Interesting that you say that because food illustration was very difficult. Too simple and it didn't look real, too much detail and you'd lose your appetite. A lot of illustrators were no good at it.Jack Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06003755708951409832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3586104591124883214.post-64713377232792146382011-02-23T09:10:35.079-08:002011-02-23T09:10:35.079-08:00Glad you enjoyed them Jack. I'm still sorting through drawers hoping to find the cover.

It is so interesting how appealing the food looks because by the time they all went to photos it was purely nauseating. This are fresh and delicious looking. Actually make me want to try the recipes.Tattered and Losthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00208918251232477186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3586104591124883214.post-51014730140002471482011-02-23T03:14:49.598-08:002011-02-23T03:14:49.598-08:00Thanks for sharing these. I didn't recognize any of these as his work but they were all really well done. It just goes to show how talented illustrators were back then (and food is a very difficult subject to illustrate in an appealing manner).Jack Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06003755708951409832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3586104591124883214.post-71437654376003261632011-02-21T21:00:34.559-08:002011-02-21T21:00:34.559-08:00Oh, this looks like serious good stuff.Oh, this looks like serious good stuff.Christine H.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09786732494496282743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3586104591124883214.post-3262722229197271882011-02-21T10:48:40.044-08:002011-02-21T10:48:40.044-08:00Fantastic illustrations! She used to do this while singing French folk songs and rocking in her rocker. Good memories. I'd forgotten all about it until I saw this illustration.MrCachethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17380421021822593083noreply@blogger.com
